Baras, officially the Municipality of Baras, is a 4th class municipality in the province of Rizal, Philippines, located 49 kilometers from Manila, 12 kilometers from Ynares Center, Antipolo City, 14 kilometers from SM Taytay, 40 kilometers from NAIA, Pasay City, 47 kilometers from Alabang, Muntinlupa City, 25 kilometers from Pasig City and 20 kilometers from Sta. Maria, Laguna. 

It can easily be reached by private vehicle and by public commute via jeepneys and AUVs that ply in Mandaluyong City or Ortigas Avenue Extension. PUVs en route to Tanay also pass by Baras. 

Under the leadership of Leopoldo Digma, the town became independent Municipality through Executive Order No. 57 dated November 24, 1920.

The town is politically subdivided into ten (10) barangays namely: Evangelista, Rizal, San Jose, San Salvador, Santiago, Concepcion, San Juan, San Miguel, Mabini and Pinugay.

According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 87,637 people.
