Fire Protection

The Bureau of Fire Protection unit at the municipal level is responsible for the fire protection and various emergency services such as rescue and evacuation of injured people at fire-related incidents and, in general, all fire prevention and suppression measures to secure the safety of life and property of the citizenry. The BFP was created in 1990 under Republic Act 6975.

Activities of the BFP include:

  • prevent and suppress all forms of destructive fires
  • conduct of fire/arson investigation and if necessary, file the appropriate complaint information before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office
  • strict implementation of the Fire Code of the Philippines and other pertinent laws

inspection of business establishments
house to house fire safety inspection
annual barangay Olympics

  • may assist the Armed Forces of the Philippines in times of national crisis, or upon the directives of the President
